McCall & Cascade

Sipping a latte while looking over the shores of Payette Lake.

If you’re heading up Hwy 55, don’t miss out on these cozy coffee shops tucked away in the wilderness.

McCall — Fogglifter Cafe

This cozy cafe is right in the heart of Downtown McCall. In the summer, you can lounge on the patio, soak up the sunshine and feel the cool breeze from the lake. In the winter, you can sink into a leather sofa, watch the snow fall and play a board game.

Fogglifter’s coffee is made with fresh roasted beans from Landgrove Coffee in Troy, Idaho. Their breakfast and lunch menu features unique fusion dishes like East Indian huevos rancheros served with lentils and chutney and a veggie benedict with tomatoes, basil and tangy hollandaise.

Cup of the Day: Relax a while here and sip some bottomless drip coffee.

McCall — Mountain Java

Sip on your coffee just steps away from the shores of Lake Payette. Mountain Java is located right along the beach, and it’s a favorite hangout for native Idahoans and visitors alike. In the summer, their dog-friendly patio is overflowing blooming flowers. The cafe offers organic espresso and a variety of non-dairy options, including soy, almond and hemp milk.

Cup of the Day: Sip on a Mountain Vino. You can’t go wrong with wine and coffee. If it’s a little too early for wine, try the maple latte — it’s just like drinking a maple donut!

New Meadows — Roadhouse Java

Located just outside New Meadows at the crossroads of Hwy 55 and Hwy 95, this roadside cafe is the perfect stop during a road trip. You can grab a cup of fresh-roasted coffee and strike up a conversation with the local baristas. Feel free to browse the shelves filled with quirky locally-made gifts, handcrafted jewelry, hot sauces with hilarious names, witty greeting cards and more.

Cup of the Day: Get a blended mocha. The baristas here pair the espresso with Ghirardelli Chocolate — a perfect combo in our book. If you’re not feeling a coffee, grab a huckleberry shake. (The baristas use a handful of real, fresh-picked huckleberries!)

The Snake River Valley & the Sunnyslope Wine Trail

Whipping up a handcrafted latte at a local Southwest Idaho roaster.

Going wine tasting along the sunnyslope wine trail, or just taking a drive in the countryside? These small town coffee shops are a great place to stop and get your caffeine fix.

Nampa & Caldwell — Flying M

Funky furniture and quirky paintings. Pastries made from scratch. Mismatched mugs and good coffee.

Flying M has four total locations — each with their own local flair. Caldwell’s cozy shop is filled with handmade art and located in the heart of the city’s historic downtown core. A favorite hangout for students and locals, Nampa’s Flying M has a retro diner vibe and hosts live music on the weekends. Both of these coffee shops are a great place to stop before hitting the Wine Trail Guide!

Cup of the Day: Grab a latte. Feel free to get creative with your order — add vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon, honey… whatever you wish. Each one often comes with a little bit of latte art.

Fruitland — Jack Henry Coffee House

This unassuming coffee shop in the small town of Fruitland serves up some of the best coffee in the Snake River Valley. You’ll definitely find some cozy farmhouse vibes here — nearly every wall is covered in reclaimed wood and repurposed vintage decor. In the summer, their shaded patio is a great place to sip, sit back and listen to live music. (It even has misters, making the patio a charming little oasis from the sunny summer days.)

But the coffee is even better. They source the coffee… they are their own roasters based just across the border in Ontario, Oregon. The 100% Arabica beans are slow-roasted in small batches and personally taste-tested by their “Master Roasters.” The end result? A smooth, rich taste with every sip.

Cup of the Day: For an extra caffeine kick, get the nitro cold brew. It’s perfectly smooth and refreshing for a lazy summer morning — or for a long road trip ahead.

In Southwest Idaho’s coffee shops, you come for the coffee, but stay for the atmosphere. Chat it up with the locals. Read a book. Listen to the music and stay a while. It’s easy to feel like a local.
